Winter Warmth Challenge!

i Nov 23rd No Comments by
With winter soon to be upons us, Connie Kyek, her husband, Walter and Daniel Dery, a friend,  have knitted well over 100 hats and headbands in various sizes.  They have donated them for our clients staying at In From the Cold Emergency Shelter and Lily’s Place Family Shelter as well as any clients in need.  She has made a few extras for sale which will help offset the costs of the high-quality yarn she uses for the hats.

As her talents are specifically in knitting hats, she is challenging  to others to create and donate mitts and socks.  If you don’t happen to have the talent to knit, we would welcome donations of new socks and mitts/gloves.

Thanks, Connie for seeing the need and reaching out to solve it!

Donations can be dropped off at our Administration office located at 540 Montreal Streeet between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

If you have any questions about this Winter Warmth Challenge, you can contact Dawn at 613-542-6672  or by email at

On Saturday, July 11 at Glen Lawrence Golf Club, Links With Lily 1st Annual Golf Tournament got off to a “shotgun” start with teams opening on all 18 holes. It was a perfect day of golf, dinner and music. A total of $14,470 was raised through a combination of tickets sales, sponsorship, donations and the silent auction.

A great day at Glen Lawrence Golf Club!

A great day at Glen Lawrence Golf Club!

A BIG thank you to Tammy Selena Tuck of Eventgal247 for organizing an amazing event with prizes, golf hole sponsors, media and supporting sponsors that helped promote and offset costs. Tammy gathered a committee that followed her lead in making this a successful – and FUN – event!

The silent auction garnered $3,275 which featured the Godin Progression guitar signed by all members of The Tragically Hip. The highest bidder was Councillor Adam Candon who is excited to display the signed guitar in his office. Home Base Housing is grateful to all the businesses who donated to the silent auction, goodie bags and those who sponsored our first tournament.

Thanks also to Doug Wark of Glen Lawrence Golf Club for his expertise and direction in implementing a plan that made the event seamless and well organized. The dinner that was included in the $75 ticket price was a wonderful and welcome feast after the day’s activities.. Doug’s staff was attentive and exceptional in assisting with the success of our first charity golf tournament.
